General Practice NSW
General Practice NSW Ltd (GP NSW) is the State Based Organisation for Divisions of General Practice in NSW.
Formerly known as the Alliance of NSW Divisions Ltd, GP NSW was incorporated in 1998. GP NSW was established to work at a state level to support and promote the work of NSW Divisions Network, to maintain good working relationships with NSW Health and other stakeholders and to maximise the capacity and influence of Divisions in the primary health care sector. These objectives are achieved through leadership, support and advocacy.
GP NSW is governed by a Board of directors and is accountable to the autonomous and independent Divisions in NSW, our members. Functions of GP NSW include:
Leadership
- Coordinate activities across Divisions that add value to the health system.
- Promote a continuous improvement culture across NSW Divisions.
- Identify funding opportunities to develop the business of NSW Divisions.
- Facilitate information sharing and networking between Divisions.
Representation and Advocacy
- Raise the profile of Divisions and the vital role of general practice in the delivery of primary health care.
- Ensure that general practice is represented in planning and implementation of health services in NSW.
- Establish collaborative relationships with other centres of influence in the health sector to contribute to industry standards, policies, frameworks and systems.
Program Support
Continue to develop programs, support and activities across health priority areas that are responsive to member needs.
